Can I get a beat?

Julie and I had fun the other day discovering the Facebook album cover meme. In case you haven’t seen it, you’re supposed to do the following:

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random” or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 – Go to Random Quotes or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days” or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days. Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

This evening I finally did step 4 for both of us…

doctor checkup (taken 11/25)

OMG today little miss Angelina tried to pull herself to standing. Changing. Too. Fast.

Tuesday was her 6 month checkup, which was kind of a joke as she turned 7 months old 2 days later on Thanksgiving. It was intentional, actually. I scheduled it as late as I could, then rescheduled even later when she got a cold, all because I hadn’t yet decided whether or not to get her a flu shot. Minimum age requirement is 6 months. I ended up asking the doctor to skip it this year because she’s still so young. If someone else at daycare comes down with the flu, I’ll keep her home to avoid the germs.

Current stats: 50-something percentile weight, 80-something percentile height, 90-something percentile head size. The doctor asked if I had noticed her slimming down. No, I was too busy kissing her chubby little thighs.

This Season

feast

I’ve finally emerged from my Thanksgiving food coma. We had a wonderful feast at our house Thursday. Everyone contributed a dish or two (or three). I’m very thankful for all the great cooks in my family! :)

Favorite Thanksgiving food: impossible! I can’t pick one!
Favorite snow activity: skiing
Favorite Christmas song: Jingle Bell Rock
Favorite holiday: I like them all, but I really like the Halloween / Thanksgiving / Christmas triumvirate.
Favorite Christmas movie: I like the Christmas scene in the fifth Harry Potter movie where all the Weasleys toast Harry for saving their father’s life. I also like all the weird knitted things Mrs. Weasley gives each of her seven kids every year. It makes me want to learn how to knit.
Name a Christmas decoration: tree
Favorite thing about the Christmas season: crisp air

hanging Christmas lights

Favorite Christmas treat: I’m not usually a big fan of chocolate, but this season makes me crave chocolate.
Favorite pie: pecan
Name a reindeer: Dancer
Name something you wear to go sledding: knit cap
One thing you do on Christmas Eve: put presents under the tree
What month do you start shopping for Christmas? I buy year-round.
Popular Christmas TV special: Charlie Brown Christmas
What other holiday might the Grinch want to steal? Valentine’s Day
Name something given in the 12 days of Christmas song: “Eight maids-a-milking…” This song is so weird.
Another name for Santa Claus: Père Noël

One thing you do on New Years Eve: watch the countdown on TV

PS: Guess what? Alex has a blog!
